The holy ground of motherhood.
Motherhood is not a race to win. A show to perform. Or a competition to contend in. Motherhood is not a simple equation. Or a one size fits all. Nor is it a road without bumps.
But motherhood is holy ground. It is a million ordinary moments strung together into a sacred season. Or more like a sacred life. It is asking for forgiveness. And pouring out love and grace. Motherhood is speaking truth over learning hearts. And reminding the next generation who God says they are. It is stewarding the miracles in front of us with faithfulness and hope.
Motherhood is not plain sailing. It was never intended to be. It takes the jagged edges of our hearts and over time sands down their serrated edges. It plants in us compassion and tenderness. And blooms in us patience and wonder.
We raise our babies and somewhere along the way we find- we are growing right along with them. Changing from who we once were into all God made us to be. Being made anew both in the immense joy and the mess alike. Sometimes with hot tears rolling down our cheeks. Often with laughter on our lips. And through the prayers we utter in the dark of night. But here we find ourselves - forever impacted. Our capacity to love forever expanded. The way we see the world forever shifted.
Lord, may our motherhood move us toward your heart. May it be the space that draws us nearer to your presence. And may it be the catapult that helps throw our affection towards your glory. We don't just want to see you here. We want to worship you here too. Let us be found faithful, Amen.
