Hey, I’m Anna!

If you walked up to my hunter green front door you wouldn't find anything fancy or filtered. I’d likely have a toddler or two on my hip while opening the door with one hand and simultaneously pushing my leg out to make sure the puppy doesn’t run out the door. You’d walk past the sign, “You belong here, welcome home,” and I’d pray you’d feel those words in tangible form as you meandered into my kitchen and I poured you a cup of piping hot coffee and stirred in the cream.

I could tell you a million and one things. And I would have a million and ones questions for you. I’d ask to hear your story- stories absolutely fascinate me. The writing and rewriting of them. The hope that’s woven among them. The light that breaks into them pushing back the darkness. And the redemption that’s possible in all of them with Jesus.

I’d tell you some of my story. How Gods forever bringing freedom and healing in the middle of the mess of my story as He teaches me to run in all He made me to be.

Maybe showing my scars, some still freshly bandaged would make you feel less alone. Maybe with each story shared back and forth- we’d dismantle any need to prove we have it all together- brick by brick, landing us on the same level of grace. And that shame that plagues us when we keep our pain in the dark would shatter into a million pieces as we carried our stories tenderly into the light. The ground is level at the foot of the cross after all.

Until I can have you each on my sofa- I can share this truth soaked hope right now: Right where your story finds you today, you are loved. Not after you clean up the mess. Not when you have less fear or more faith. Right in this moment, you are seen and loved. God made you on purpose and for a purpose and He is mighty in you.

I know some of you believe it. And others are rolling their eyes or crawling out of your skin at the mere thought of someone really adoring you. “God loves me?” You wonder. “Not a chance.” I too believed that my mess was too much for him. My sin too great. The tangles of my heart as ratted as my daughters summer cabin hair. But he dismantled my walls doubt by doubt as I began to hear the truth he was speaking over me.
